I think that Radcliffe sets up a damsel in distress plot by doing this. They are all either good or bad, and they don’t develop or grow.
While this has only occurred during the first volume of the book, I hope she stays true to herself and continues to be siciliqn modern heroine Radcliffe has portrayed her to be. After his first wife dies, the cruel marquis of Mazzini, remarries to a beautiful but selfish and vain woman and the couple moves to Naples.
I really enjoyed reading this book purely for the fact that it kept me entertained. Two heroes, one a brother and one a lover.

I picked up A Sicilian Romance on a whim. Until one night they saw a light in a part of the castle that was unoccupied. She obeyed, and the marquis enquired with great agitation after Vincent.
