This is the second book in the series and the first that was translated into English. I will read more by this author.

Paco Ignacio Taibo II siempre ha sido uno de mis autores predilectos, cuando lei la primer novela de esta serie dias de combate lo hice con grandes expectativas sobre todo porque los antecedentes que tenia sobre los trabajos pasados del autor y la premisa de la serie de Belascoaran Shayne, y al principio no me defraudo pero al final de la primer novela senti que el final fue un poco apresurado y esto me decepciono un poco.
Lo que sucede es que el tiempo pasa. Cosa facil paco ignacio taibo to Taivo saving….
In a lot of ways fil very different from most English detective novels and you learn a lot about society in Mexico’s capital city. Is Emiliano Zapata still alive? Pero con Cosa Facil se reinvidico y nos entrego una novela que emociona de principio a fin, desarrolla de forma un poco mas profunda al protagonico y los personajes secundarios son mas constantes.
Great suspense and very interesting view of the events through a social approach, providing an insight on the social and living conditions of the people in the city at that time. Hector, who is usually overwhelmed with handling one case at a time, suddenly finds himself handling three iii at once. Really, in anything written about Mexico City, Mexico City itself is the ignaciio, because it is one of those really standout cities with no comparison.

An Easy Thing
I’ll be watching for his other work. Working on three cases at once one of which involved, improbably, a search for the year old Emiliano Zapata while simultaneously learning about his late father’s heretofore hidden past as a partisan in the Spanish Revolution and French Underground, and getting involved in a chaotic strike – our sleep-deprived detective is practically drowning in plot.
There are no discussion topics on this book yet. I’d recommend it especially to fans of translated Mexican lit. No trivia or quizzes yet. She talbo Hector letters, basically confessing that she’s slept with other men, updating him on her progress of self-discovery, and asking him to wait for her–because she loves him. Como no querer a nuestro gran detective mexicano.
Working on three cases at once one of which involved, improbably, a search for the year old Emiliano Zapata while simultaneously learning about his late father’s heretofore hidden past as a partisan in the Spanish Revolution and French Underground, and getting involved in a chaotic strike – our sleep-deprived detective is practically drowning in plot. It is a great introduction to one of the most complex and interesting characters in this kind of taiho. I do believe this is my first Mexico based mystery.
He finds a comfort in being among the type of people he grew up with. I learn from reading these books Taibo that in my next life, I want to come back as a private detective.
And the machismo – though not unexpected given the genre – was a bit gratuitous. Neither of his siblings wants the money, nor does he.

This is a story of revenge, as detective Chayne’s own clients sabotage his actions, and leave him blind in one eye. The third is to find who is sending threats to the daughter of a former porn starlet. The radio DJ is used to the same effect here: He shares office space with a plumber, a sewer specialist and an upholsterer. This is essential reading for those interested in experiencing Mexico City even Mexico City of the late ’70s as an electrically alive place — but also for anyone who believes in the idea of the detective as a universal conduit between the parts of life we love and the parts we’d rather ignore.
View all 3 comments. Hector Belascoarian Shayne, an odd name for sure and you’ll get the backstory on that one and more in An Easy Thing. Enjoyed it a lot! I’d like to read this book on Kindle Don’t have a Kindle? He goes for a period of what seems like a week or two on very little sleep, and you can almost feel the fuzz in your mouth, the stale tobacco smell from too many cigarettes smoked to keep you alert as you tail people, the ache in your feet.
