He has devoted his life to yoga instruction for people of all backgrounds and all levels of ability and currently teaches at the school founded in his father’s memory in Madras, as well as in Europe, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
The two must be recognized, then brought together, otherwise even the advaita idea becomes an object. We must start with the reality of our situation. Yoga is the method and the approach to dfsikachar this great realization a reality.
When I first began yoga, I loved going to desikachzr but found my at-home practice to be uninspiring, so I really only practiced in class. His teaching method is based on Krishnamacharya’s fundamental principle that yoga must always be adapted to an individual’s changing needs in order to derive the maximum therapeutic benefit.

I feel that here I am finally getting the full story, starting from the ground up, rather than catching a snippet of something here or there in a yoga class or in other yoga-focused book. I’m not sure I’m quite ready to incorporate all of it into my practice and some of it I might neverbut the parts that I have, have made a difference already.

A beautifully written book with a lot of yogic insight and wisdom. Despite his many innovations he never made any claim of authorship over what he taught, wrote or channeled. If you’re here, you know generally what these types of books are trying to tell you, so all I really want to say is that Desikachar has managed to tell it in an accessible w The best, most engaging, and most practically applicable of the books I’ve read in preparation for my yoga teacher training! Published March 1st by Inner Traditions first published Needless to say, this is one of the cornerstones of my yoga hhe and practice and the wisdom and practical information in this book keep me coming back time and time again.
