We know endless life when we know love. Showing of reviews. This book is one of those unique works that bravely brings Christianity and philosophy together. The ideas were compelling, but distant for me. And when the slag and dross are removed, that which evokes reverence is right there waiting! Not rhr easy read, but ultimately I think worth a try if you are trying to let go of your ego.

But don’t get the impression that this book is about head knowledge. Spirituality and the Twelve Steps. Truly, not according to our own devising? There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Personally, I don’t find this limiting, and I hope it brings more to his ideas. He has a way of connecting as well with a person like me who isn’t by inclination contemplative.

Do I agree with everything he says? The True Self is the “Immortal Diamond”of the title; it’s always there waiting to be “mined” like a diamond in the present. Jan 09, Theodore rated it it was ok. When you can connect with your True Self, the richwrd spiritual life opens up. Rohr is definitely a Catholic, I find his ideas and the way he burrows into them inspiring.
It seems Richard Rohr manages to sum up my every sermon this last year in this beautiful book. It’s hard to put into words a book that leads the reader to great introspection. I recommend it to all of my clients.

Description In Falling Upward and in many of his other teachingsRichard Rohr talks at length about ego or the False Self and how it gets in the way of spiritual maturity, especially if its preoccupations continue into the second half of life. The book was diamind short and to me flew by quickly I literally spent just one day to listen the entire thing.
He wants to introduce you to a deeper meaning to life, deeper even than the surface Christian tradition that has been your paradigm to date.
